PHOXing the Show!

When we discovered PHOX last month, we became quite the fans of their song, "Slow Motion" and knew that they were definitely a band to watch. We also had a hunch that they would sound awesome live! And we were not wrong!

PHOX performed on August 1st at the Magic Stick in Detroit and they were AMAZING! They sung a number of songs off their self-titled album, which had the crowd grooving during the entire set. There was also great crowd interaction and some great story telling from singer, Monica Martin. One thing that we really loved was the artistry they showed about their music. The harmonies that they employed on songs like, "No More Hurt", the flute on "Leisure", and the use of whistling proves that music can be SO MUCH MORE!

We definitely enjoyed the performances of "Kingfisher" and "Slow Motion"! And the intimacy and vulnerability that Monica showed while performing "Too Soon".

PHOX did a great show and the venue of the Magic Stick helped to ensure an intimate vibe that the music puts forth!

We also enjoyed their opening act JE Sunde, who performed a number of songs from his new album Shapes that Kiss the Lips of God, including "Easy Kid" about an obnoxious encounter with a kid! He is definitely worth checking out!
