The Rundown on What Went Down: Lollapalooza 2015
So . . . we were a one person army at this year’s Lollapalooza; walking, running, sprinting, power walking, sauntering, and sometimes dancing from end to end of Grant Park. We saw a total of 18 artists, including Paul McCartney, Lion Babe, and Beat Connection over the weekend; and here’s a rundown of what went down at Lollapalooza!
St. Paul & the Broken Bones
Whatever St. Paul & the Broken Bones are serving, please give us a double helping! This group, hailing from Birmingham, Alabama brought the soul to Grant Park! Come on, they did Otis Redding’s “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long”. AND DID IT JUSTICE! Not to mention we’re pretty sure the breeze that swept in to cool the crowd was Otis giving his approval!

Glass Animals
We caught a bit of Glass Animals before we made the trek to the Bud Light stage for St. Paul and the Broken Bones and we enjoyed what we saw!
Father John Misty
What a way to chill out from all the Lollapalooza craziness! We’re new to Father John Misty, but we totally enjoyed his set, along with his chill vibe. It was just what we needed midway through the day.

DJ Mustard
We try to venture into Perry’s a few times during Lollapalooza to get a boost of energy from their crowd and during DJ Mustard’s set a boost is definitely what we got! Perched high on the stage DJ Mustard served up all the hits to a hungry crowd!
Sidebar: We’re surprised, but not surprised by how many times we heard “Trap Queen” coming from that way over the weekend. We’re not mad though, it is the jam!

Alabama Shakes
If St. Paul and the Broken Bones brought the soul, Alabama Shakes brought it with a side of funk! Our favorites? “Give Me All Your Love” and “Over My Head”!

Mick Jenkins
We caught a song during the set of Mick Jenkin’s while heading to see Beat Connection and got hypnotized by his song, “Rain”.
Hippo Campus
We checked out this group per the advice of our very cool friend Sumi Khan and as usual she was right! Definitely worth checking out!

Raury
We caught the end of Raury’s set and were not disappointed, as he strung his acoustic guitar.

Django Django
We peeped Django Django’s set from the Samsung Owner’s Lounge and did so using the Samsung Gear VR and it was pretty awesome!

Tyler, The Creator
This was one colorful set, from the giant bed and nightstand to Tyler’s animated, yet intimate performance style! It gave us the energy we needed to get though the rest of the day!

Kid Cudi
We’ve been rocking with Kid Cudi since “Day & Night” was released so we relished the opportunity to see him move the crowd live. We checked him out as he performed “Soundtrack to My Life" and got our second wind!

Metallica
Full disclosure: We didn’t have much experience with Metallica before this performance at Lollapalooza, but after rocking out to songs like “Fuel” we’re going to buy ALL of the Metallica! They gave an awesome performance that surely garnered them a lot of new fans (like us!) and strengthened the love their longtime fans have for them!

Light 'Em Up
As we made our way to Sam Smith, we caught the end of Light 'Em Up’s set and WOW! This DJing duo from Chicago has a whole new concept going, where the light show coincides with what the audience has voted on!
Sam Smith
What else can be said about the amazing Sam Smith??? “Stay With Me” both moved and soothed the Lollapalooza crowd.

The Wombats
We caught The Wombats EARLY on our way to check out Lion Babe, and we were pretty impressed! We also liked that they thanked the crowd for being with them so early in the morning!
