Is It Friday, Yet?!?!
The countdown is ON!!! Lollapalooza is JUST around the corner and as we’ve done Lolla Fridays to get you acquainted with some of the newer acts; we wanted to share with you what our schedule for the music extravaganza is shaping up to look like!
Of course we’re going to check out Paul McCartney on Friday, but we’ll also be running around Grant Park to check out the following sets; SZA, Mista Cookie Jar & The Chocolate Chips, DJ Mustard, BØRNS, Young Thug, Alabama Shakes, Gary Clark Jr., Flying Lotus, and The Weekend. There’s so much overlap that we’re hoping to catch a few songs here or there of some sets. We’re really excited to show some love to fellow Michigan native BØRNS, who released his debut EP Candy in 2014. Check out the video for "Electric Love” below!
Saturday is shaping up to be not as busy, which will afford us the opportunity to check out some Lollapalooza activities outside of music, including the Lolla Shop which returns to Block 37 on State Street. There’s merch available in Grant Park, but Lolla Shop features not only cool Lolla items, but also hair braiding, a selfie station, and complimentary beverages! And if you remember nothing else we say, STAY HYDRATED during Lollapalooza!
Inside Grant Park, you also need to take advantage of all the tasty food in Chow Town and the Farmers Market. And if you’re not sure about what to do between sets there’s lots to check out, like The F.Y.E Autograph Tent, where artist check in after their sets to meet and greet! We got our vinyl signed by the very awesome Fitz and the Tantrums last year! You can also peruse Toyota Sound Central, the Samsung Galaxy Experience, and Sprint All Access Pavilion among a host of activities and tents.
We’ll still be sprinting back and forth to a few stages though, so that we can check out Beat Connection, Raury, Zella Day, Travi$ Scott, Tyler, The Creator, Kid Cudi, Light ‘Em Up, Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas (more Michiganders!), Metallica, and Sam Smith. Beat Connection may not be super known, but you have to check out their recently released track “So Good”. While listening someone asked if we were watching our Jackson 5 cartoon DVD’s, so that right there is quite a cool comparison!
One of our main goals for Sunday, is to see Lion Babe (check out their latest "Impossible" below); but we’re also getting hip to The Lonely Biscuits and are sure that A$AP Rocky and FKA Twigs are going to give AWESOME performances!
